Beautiful Sicily

We had a great vacation in Sicily. We saw so many Greek ruins and beautiful landscapes. Oh it was amazing and the perfect time of year before it gets too hot. Last year we went to Greece in the summer and that was a huge mistake. It was wonderful (I love Greece ) don't get me wrong but very..... very hot. Even hotter than any of Florida's top breaking temperatures. I highly recommend going to these areas of  Europe in the spring. The wildflowers were blooming everywhere, the most flowers we have ever seen which made driving through the countryside stunning. Here are a few pictures from our trip.

The first stop was an medieval town in Erice, Sicily
The food was delicious. As always in Italy,  Buon appetito.  This region had a lot of pistachio and artichokes so I ate any dish  or pastry I could find with them. The food in every region is so different. I prefer the north and center regions as far as food goes, but it is all very good.

It was much cooler up here in the mountains, but very warm down by the beaches.

The first Greek temple we visited in Segesta had widflowers throughout. It was beautiful. We saw just as many Greek ruins in Sicily as we did in Greece last year and without all the crowds.

Then we went to Valley of Temples in Agrigento

:) had to do a dip

The Salt Rock cliffs of Scala dei Turchi were amazing to see while we were there.

so relaxing

Then we passed through Corleone  to see this beautiful waterfall while on our way to Selinunte .
The Selinunte temples by the sea were covered in wildflowers too. So beautiful. Again we had it all to ourselves.

the variety of flowers was crazy!
So pretty and had most of the ruins to ourselves because it isn't the busy season yet. I rather go when there are less tourists. You can sit, relax and enjoy without the mad rush.

Grotta di Mangiapane
Had to see these old cave homes that are believed to be 4000 years old

Then we got to relax and swim at this beautiful beach in Scopello before our long flight home. The water was a little chilly but I was not going home without going for a swim in the Mediterranean. This was one of the prettiest beaches ever. The trip was amazing.
